7/20/20 Day 75: Zero Day in Hamburg, PA

Monday, July 20 9:38 pm 0.0 mi

Took a surprise zero at the Hamburg Microtel with Blue and Puddles. I don’t like to admit when I’m tired or when I need a break, but today was one of those days. Cracker Barrel breakfast, Walmart resupply, pizza Doordash for lunch/dinner, milkshake Doordash for dessert. Laid down almost all day napping or watching the Office, which is like watching a whole new show with this podcast (Office Ladies). We got a late checkout at 2pm, which turned into a zero as we all laid there quietly contemplating the idea until someone finally voiced the desire.

Post Trail Analysis

Blue and I had finished our resupplies and gone back to the hotel room while Puddles got lost in Gander Mountain looking for insoles. She got back to the room, expecting to see us packed up and ready to roll, but both of us were just laying there in our beds asleep, supplies still in their Walmart bags. Puddles laid down too, and we all decided right then that a zero would be a good idea.

We took laziness to a whole new level today, and looking at the Health data from my iPhone it kind of looks like I left my phone in the hotel room that day. Nope, I had it with me the whole day, just barely moved from my sleeping pad laid out on the floor of that Microtel! It’s funny looking at that Health data – you can DEFINITELY see which days were spent in town. Seeing the mileage ramp up and up and up, until it peaks during the Four State Challenge, only to completely crater in Waynesboro, PA and now here in Hamburg.

Temperature-wise, this may have been one of the hottest days I experienced during the journey. I was incredibly thankful to be staying in a cool, climate controlled room. I was also incredibly appreciate of having a roommate (Puddles) who shared my affinity for turning the room into an icebox whenever possible.
