Weather: Rain overnight and AM, again late PM into overnight
Trail Conditions: Very slick rock scrambles today
My Condition: Sore feet and ankles, but now dried out and happy
Hikers met: SOBO NatGeo – very friendly! Had a full conversation at a considerable distance
Hiked with Blue this morning as we jammed out to 90s music today. Two biggish climbs today, up Smarts Mountain and Mt Cube. The clouds broke and we had a nice view at Eastman Ledges. The AT has been centering. I may not have all the answers I sought, but I have a much clearer picture of who I am and who I want to be. It breaks you down and makes you vulnerable. You have to confront the thoughts and things you’ve pushed back and hidden away. You relive past mistakes and regrets. But you uncover an inner strength within that pain. Maybe you’ve made mistakes, but now you’re a badass with 1782.8 miles under your belt that has made mistakes. You are capable, adaptable, and resilient. Your journey has been nothing short of incredible. I don’t have it all figured out, but I have figured out how much I needed this experience, and see tremendous value in seeking out similar adventures moving forward.
Post Trail Analysis
If I had to pick a favorite era of music, I would’ve said 90s. Nirvana, Destiny’s Child, No Doubt, Will Smith, Chumbawamba, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, TLC, Outkast, Pearl Jam, The Fugees, Blink 182, The Foo Fighters, Smash Mouth, Sublime, so many great jock jams, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, and everything in between – so much good music! I helped Hummingbird do a photo shoot on the early, fog shrouded cliffs, and watched Blue do a photo shoot for a red eft she found sunning itself on the cliffs later in the day.
