AT 2092.7 Long Pond Stream → AT 2107.2 East Chairback Pond
Weather: Warm and overcast
Trail Conditions: Rooty, rocky, rugged, slow moving terrain and beautiful fall colors
My Condition: Sore, never really hit a rhythm today – kept stopping to take pictures!
Camped by a gorgeous, moonlit pond. A loon gave us a concert at dusk – loudest, clearest we’ve heard so far! The fall colors keep growing more and more vibrant – bright reds, maroons and purples, oranges of all shades, vivid yellows, and still a decent amount of green. Last 100 mile marker today at 2100, and less than 100 miles to go until the end of my thru hike.
Post Trail Analysis
I’ve never seen anything quite like fall in Maine. Somehow, we managed to hit absolute peak color season. Had my original plan been unaffected by a worldwide pandemic, I would’ve been finished for quite some time now, and never would’ve seen the fall here. I’m blown away by the pictures and videos I was able to capture, and even they don’t do the colors full justice!
