Sunday, September 6 1:55 pm 4.2 mi
AT 1869.4 Parapet Brook-ish → AT 1873.6 Pinkham Notch/Hummingbird’s Place!
Weather: Warm and sunny
Trail Conditions: Short, mostly downhill, way less rocks
My Condition: Sore and excited for a rest day
Short hiking day. Hung out at Pinkham Notch visitor’s center, where I stayed last time I was in the Whites. They still have the cool 3D map of the Whites, and I was able to see exactly where we went yesterday. Doesn’t look too intense when it’s that size! Hummingbird’s mom picked us up, and we are staying with them. She even knit us all gloves and brought loaner clothes, AKA all of Papa Hummingbird’s hawaiian shirts!
Post Trail Analysis
One of my absolute favorite neroes and zeroes of the trail! Not only did we get to hang out with Mama, Papa, and Brother Hummingbird, we got to hang out with their DOGS!!! Two black labs!! Papa Hummingbird cooked us some amazing meals, Mama Hummingbird’s gloves were incredible, the view from the back porch was spectacular overlooking the Presidentials, the coffee mug collection was vast and highly entertaining, and the clothes were incredibly stylish. We dropped Blue off at the hospital to get her back checked out, traveled to REI where Puddles would make the switch to Hokas and I’d buy a pair of trail pants, and head to the grocery store to resupply. For movie night, we’d enjoy the Miss Congeniality collection.
